A young woman has experienced the trauma - aged 10 - of the Kobe earthquake in 1995 whilst on a train journey with her father in Kobe. The effects of this experience deeply affect her entire life, and in particular, her coping mechanisms, health and relationships. She is eventually diagnosed, as an adult and after great suffering, with PTSD.

She appears on-stage, stuck in a large moveable cage which separates her both from herself and from the outside world. She has long learned to distract herself by perpetually disassociating herself and by running away from her reality. Gradually, she becomes aware of a child, also trapped in a cage, who she slowly comes to realise is a younger version of herself.

By entering gently into choreographed movement/physical dialogue with this child the young woman begins to see her past more clearly. She slowly begins to accept who she has become, who she was, and to also see who she might yet still become.

Little Girl Inside Me deals with difficult, universally relatable subject-matter with an immensely positive outlook and an authentic touch.
